Note — aik sawal par caveat:

CAVEAT — Group II Q.3(ii) (audible frequency range of bats and rats) is only PARTIALLY verified against the current PTB textbook: the textbook (Unit 11, Sound, §11.7 'Audible Frequency Range', book pp. 30–31) confirms that bats can hear frequencies up to 120,000 Hz, so the bats upper limit in the answer (120,000 Hz) is exactly the textbook value. However, the current PTB edition gives only upper limits and does not mention rats at all (the same box lists mice up to 100,000 Hz, dogs up to 35,000 Hz, cats up to 25,000 Hz). The lower bounds (bats 1,000 Hz; rats 200 Hz) and the rats upper limit (90,000 Hz) could NOT be verified from the textbook; they are retained in the answer because they are the standard values taught for this recurring board question, but they are not textbook-printed figures. Do not present them as quoted from the PTB book.

Ye caveat is liye darj hai ke hum textbook se verify na hone wali baat ko textbook ki baat bana kar pesh nahi karte.

  • Source site: ilmkidunya.com individual paper pages (authentic board paper scans).
  • Source checked: 2026-10-24 (review pass against the scans and the PTB textbook).

Textbook

  • Punjab Textbook Board (PTB), Class 10 Physics (official e-book PDF, PCTB copy).
  • Key references used in review: Unit 11 (Sound) §11.7 'Audible Frequency Range' (book pp. 30–31); Unit 12 (Geometrical Optics) 'Sign Conventions' table (book p. 41); Unit 17 (Information Technology) 'For your information' box on communication satellites (book p. 162).

Review notes

  • Every question in both groups was legible on the scans; no question is published on a guess.
  • Every numerical was solved twice independently and both workings agree; four numericals were re-worked a third time in review with no mismatches.
  • Group I Q.10 option (D) is printed as 'N-152' on the board paper itself — a misprint in the paper, not a transcription error. The key (B) I-131 is unaffected.
  • Group I Q.4(ii) sign conventions follow the PTB textbook table (real-is-positive), not the Cartesian convention.
